RICHMOND, VA—Three people were arrested in connection with a drug bust near VCU's campus that netted more than 250 pounds of marijuana and more than $600,000 in cash.
During the May drug bust, authorities seized 267 pounds of marijuana — valued at more than $1 million — and more than $600,000 in cash.
Police said an investigation into the drug bust led to the arrest of three Richmond men suspected of transporting high-grade marijuana from California to Richmond for the past several years.
Eduardo Daniel Fabelo, 23, Jeremy Doyle Harrington, 29, and Andrew Fulton Massengill, 22, all of Richmond, were arrested and charged with felony counts of transporting more than five pounds of marijuana into Virginia.
If convicted, the men face up to 40 years in prison.
VCU Police said an investigation into the suspected drug ring began in 2004 after a woman was arrested for smoking marijuana near VCU's campus.
Harrington was released on $300,000 bail. Fabelo and Massengill are being held without bail at the Richmond City Jail.
