UPDATE: One person injured after a car crashed into a kidney dialysis clinic in Henrico Monday has died from their injuries.
Barbara A. Carney-Clarke, 61, died Tuesday from injuries sustained Monday when a car crashed into the building, located in the 8800 block of Three Chopt Road.
One other person suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the car was not injured.
An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway. The driver of the vehicle has not been charged in this incident.
DaVita Dialysis Clinic released the following statement Monday afternoon following the accident:
"We are currently working to have grief counselors on-site to support and counsel our patients and teammates in this tight-knit community and clinic. Our focus and our thoughts are with our patients and the families involved in this accident. Our main focus now is making sure our patients are safe, comfortable, and receiving their life-sustaining dialysis treatments.
While our treatment floor was not directly impacted by this incident, we have decided to temporarily reschedule patients for whom we typically care for at the Three Chopt clinic to nearby clinics to receive treatments until the damage to our building is assessed and treatments can resume in an orderly manner at Three Chopt."
