Richmond, Police Tentatively Settle Overtime Suit

Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND, VA. (AP) - Richmond City Council will vote later this month on whether to spend more than $7 million to settle a police overtime lawsuit.

The lawsuit seeks additional overtime pay for 600 current and former police officers. They claim that the Richmond Police Department is violating a state law requiring overtime pay for hours exceeding 80 in a two-week period.

Media outlets report that the City Council will vote on the proposed settlement on July 23. A federal judge also must approve the agreement.
