Posted: Updated:

ASHLAND, VA—Two people were displaced by an early morning house fire in Ashland.

The fire broke out at a home at 323 New Street just after 6:00 a.m. Thursday.

Neighbors saw smoke coming from the home and called 911 at 6:18 a.m.

When fire crews arrived on scene, they saw heavy fire on the home's first and second floors.

It took crews around 40 minutes to get the fire under control. Firefighters said the home's tin roof trapped flames and heat inside the home and made it difficult to get the fire under control.

No one was in the home when the fire broke out and no injuries were reported.

The home sustained $100,000 in damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
