DOSWELL, VA. (AP) - The new operators of the State Fair of Virginia will discuss their partnership during a news conference at the Caroline County home of the agricultural exposition.
Leaders of the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation and Universal Fairs LLC will be making their first public appearance together Thursday since the farm lobby decided to take on a 50 percent share of the annual event.
The Farm Bureau announced earlier this month it would operate the agricultural side of the fair in what it called a 50-50 partnership with Universal Fairs, a Tennessee company that operates fairs elsewhere in the U.S.
Universal purchased the Caroline County property in May for $5.67 million from the debt-ridden former operator of the 150-year-old fair.
The fair is scheduled to run from Sept. 28 through Oct. 7.
