PETERSBURG, VA—The child of a Petersburg Police officer was rushed to the hospital after being found inside a hot vehicle Wednesday.
The incident occurred in the 27000 block of Lily Pond Road in Dinwiddie County at the child's father's residence. Sources said the 19-month-old victim was taken to the hospital just before 3:30 p.m. in critical condition.
The child is currently in stable condition.
No charged have been filed. Dinwiddie authorities are still investigating the incident, but said the father was at home at the time.
It is unclear how long the victim was inside the vehicle or how the child got into the vehicle.
