CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. (AP) - The first lady canceled two scheduled campaign stops in Virginia following a mass shooting in Colorado.

Michelle Obama was scheduled to speak at a Women's Vote 2012 rally in Charlottesville Friday before heading to Fredericksburg to address supporters at the University of Mary Washington..

President Barack Obama also cut short a Florida campaign swing after at least 12 people were killed and 50 wounded during a shooting at a Colorado movie theater.

In a brief appearance, the president said there would be other days for politics and that Friday should be devoted to prayer and reflection.

Michelle Obama's visits were to come a day after a new poll shows Obama is in a dead heat with Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.
