Fredericksburg, VA—Police are investigating after the body of a homeless man was found in a wooded area off Fall Hill Avenue in Fredericksburg Wednesday morning.

The body, identified only as a Hispanic male in his 40s, was discovered inside a tent within a homeless camp located behind the Central Park Townhomes off Fall Hill Avenue.

Police say the victim was known to reside in and around the Bragg Hill Corridor since 2008. It's unknown how long he had been homeless. It is believed that the victim was well-known in the area, especially within the Hispanic community.

Due to obvious signs of trauma on the body, police say the death does appear to be suspicious, and are investigating the case as a homicide.

Anyone with information about this case should contact Detective Patrick Lamb at 540-654-5740. Callers should feel confident that Detective Lamb, who is fluent in Spanish, is concerned only with solving this homicide, and the residency status of any individuals who wish to provide information is irrelevant and will not be questioned.
