HENRICO, VA— Police have located the mother of a two-year-old girl found wandering around the Essex Village Apartments early Thursday morning.
The two-year-old girl was found in the area of 311 Engleside Drive early Thursday morning by a resident.
Police are speaking with the child's mother. Police have not said if charges will be filed, or if the child was in the mother's care at the time.
The mother told our 8News crew that her daughter was staying with other family members at the time. Neither child or mother's identity have been released by police.
Authorities said the child was in good shape and was in the custody of Child Protective Services. Officers had gone door-to-door in the area attempting to located the child's guardian after she was found.
