Prince
William, VA—Two
separate fatal crashes claimed the lives of two individuals in Prince William
County Sunday.
The
first accident occurred at 5:49 AM in Gainesville,
near Lee Highway
and Old Carolina Road.
Police responded to emergency calls of a pedestrian struck, and upon arrival
on-scene, found an injured adult male. The man had been crossing Lee Highway on foot
when he was struck by a vehicle. The victim later died as a result of his
injuries.
Less
than an hour later, at 6:37 AM, police responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash involving
a motorcycle near Bristow Road
and Independent Hill Drive.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the male driver of the motorcycle
lost control and crashed into a tree while traveling on Bristow Road. He was pronounced dead at
the scene.
The
names of the victims will be released pending next-of-kin notification.
Investigations of both accidents are on-going.
