RICHMOND, VA— 8News has connected Elias Webb, an employee of the Richmond Times-Dispatch, to the ownership of a vehicle which hit and killed a 24-year-old local woman Sunday.
Police have not confirmed who was driving the vehicle the night of the crash which killed 24-year-old Lanie Kruszewski. According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Webb has admitted to driving the vehicle and leaving the scene.
No charges have been filed. Prosecutors said they may consider felony charges during a grand jury hearing Monday.
According to a search warrant, police found red stains and other evidence during a search of a 2004 Dodge Durango believed to be involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed Kruszewski.
Documents filed in the Richmond Circuit Court said pieces of fabric, samples from the vehicle's steering wheel and samples of an unknown substance were recovered from the vehicle. Evidence was taken from inside and outside of the truck.
Kruszewski, 24, of the 600 block of Roseneath Road, was riding her bike eastbound on River Road when police say a vehicle traveling in the same direction struck her. The vehicle continued without stopping.
Investigators re-created the scene of the deadly hit-and-run crash in Richmond Wednesday morning a day after the suspect vehicle was identified.
Kruszewski died as a result of her injuries. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
Funeral services for Kruszewski will be held Friday at 3 p.m. At Maggie Walker Governor's School. The family is asking that donations go to the school's foundation.
