Alleged Fake ID Seller Due In Richmond Court

Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND, VA. (AP) - A man accused of participating in a multistate document fraud ring is set to enter a plea agreement in federal court in Richmond.

Jose Sanchez-Herrera faces 10 counts of racketeering and conspiracy. He previously pleaded not guilty, but his scheduled October trial was canceled and a plea hearing is now set for Tuesday morning.

Sanchez-Herrera is among 30 men indicted for participating in a fake ID ring that prosecutors say protected its lucrative turf with intimidation, beatings and at least one murder. Sanchez-Herrera was not linked to the killing.

Only one of the 30 defendants went to trial. A jury in November convicted Edy Oliverez-Jiminez in the kidnapping and murder of a rival fake ID seller in Arkansas.
