CULPEPER, VA. (AP) - The Civil War Trust and local preservationists are joining forces to protect a section of the Cedar Mountain Battlefield in Culpeper County.
Media outlets report that the trust and the Friends of Cedar Mountain Battlefield will conduct a national campaign to raise money to buy 6 acres on the battlefield. The property is contiguous to other battlefield properties held by the Civil War Trust.
The property's purchase price is $120,000.
Aug. 9 is the 150th anniversary of the battle.
