UPDATE: I-95 Northbound, Southbound Lanes Reopen

CAROLINE, VA—All northbound and southbound travel lanes of Interstate 95 in Caroline County have reopened following an early morning accident.

All lanes north and southbound on Interstate 95 in Caroline County near mile marker 104 were temporally shutdown following an early morning accident involving a paving crew.

A dump truck struck the overhead power lines as crews were attempting to lay asphalt in the area. Two vehicles traveling northbound also struck the power lines.

Drivers traveling northbound were diverted off at Exit 98 in Hanover County. Drivers traveling southbound were diverted off at Exit 110 in Caroline County.

The wreck happened around 2:00 a.m. Tuesday. The driver of the dump truck, William Zimmerman, 39, of North Chesterfield, was charged with reckless driving.

The power company was contacted to clear the live power lines from the roadway. No injuries have been reported.

8News reporter Laura Morris said traffic was backed up for about 8 miles following the wreck.
