Hanover, VA--200 gallons of paint spilled onto the roadway today after a tractor trailer overturned on the Interstate 295 on-ramp from Route 360 in Hanover County. The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries.
Shortly after 1:00 PM on Tuesday, a 2001 Freightliner Truck ran off the left side of the roadway, and overturned onto its right side.
The truck's driver, David Kao, 65, of Fremont, Ohio, was traveling from Port Royal to DeWitt, and was wearing a safety belt. He sustained minor injuries, and was treated at the scene, before being charged for reckless driving. Police believe that speed was a factor in the crash.
The ramp is closed, as crews work to clean up the water-soluble paint that spilled from the truck, along with containers of water. IT's unclear when the ramp is expected to re-open.
There were no other injuries involved in the incident. The crash remains under investigation.
