Henrico, Va.-  Three adults and four children were displaced from a home at 4712 Suecla Ct. when fire broke out in the home.  Henrico Fire units were initially dispatched for a fire alarm to the residence.  Two calls were received while the units were in route.  One reported smoke coming from a second floor window, the other reported a female trying to put a ladder out of a window.

The first due companies called for additional resources.  On arrival they found one victim who had climbed out a window and onto the roof.  They assisted him to the ground.  Another victim reportedly pushed an a/c unit out a second floor window, lowered an escape ladder from it, and climbed down to safety.  She later reported back pain and was transported to the hospital.  No firefighter injuries were reported.  The Red Cross was called to assist.

The cause of the fire was determined to be cooking related.  It's important to remember to watch what your cooking in the kitchen.  A fire detection system, a fire escape ladder, and knowledge of what to do when a smoke detector sounds are all important components in surviving a fire in your home..
