Posted: Updated:

LOUISA, Va. (AP) - A Louisa County church that sustained about $1 million in structural damage from last year's earthquake is trying to raise money for repairs.

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Louisa wants to raise $500,000 to help pay for repairs that have already been made or still need to be done.

reports the goal is to have the money raised by the church's 200th anniversary in November 2014.

Church spokeswoman Karen Rosica says a committee is looking to book at least one fundraising event each month.

The region has experienced dozens of aftershocks since a 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck on Aug. 23, 2011. Mineral was the earthquake's epicenter.
