Richmond, VA-A Richmond man has been convicted in connection with the fatal shooting of two brothers after an argument over dog feces outside an apartment in April.

37-year-old Darryl Lamont Jefferson was found guilty on two counts each of first-degree murder and using a firearm in a felony in a Richmond Circuit Court on Monday.

A jury recommended a 46-year prison term for Jefferson. A friend of Jefferson's, 21-year-old Randy L. Trent, will also face a murder trial in October.

The argument which led to the shooting deaths of 24-year-old Ahmad K. Phillips and his 28-year-old brother, Ahkeem, began when Ahmad found dog feces outside his apartment.

Authorities say Ahmad Phillips confronted Trent, who was the dog's owner and lived in the same apartment building. Trent summoned Jefferson after arguing with Ahmad Phillips, and the situation escalated, resulting in the deaths of the two men, both from Richmond.
