Fredericksburg, VA—A male student is in police custody after allegedly
making a bomb threat at the Massaponax
High School Tuesday
afternoon. There was no bomb found, and no injuries.
Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office responded to the
school, located at 8201 Jefferson Davis
Highway in Fredericksburg,
at approximately 11:25 AM for a reported bomb threat.
School officials became aware of the threat when a student
approached the school resource officer after receiving a text message.
The school was immediately placed on lockdown, and students
were escorted to another area on school property after an inspection of the
grounds.
After a thorough search by several bomb sniffing canines
from Spotsylvania, Stafford, Fauquier and Dulles Airport,
no bomb was found. There were no injuries in this incident.
A 17-year-old male student enrolled at Massaponax High School
was taken into custody, and is expected to be charged with making a bomb
threat. The student was not present at
the school at the time of the incident.
