RICHMOND, VA—VCU Police are searching for more than a dozen suspects after two people were assaulted and robbed on VCU's campus early Wednesday morning.
Police said two separate incidents took place at approximately 2:55 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The first incident took place at the intersection of Shafer and Grace Streets.
Police said the victim was exiting their vehicle when they were approached by a large group of men. One of the men then punched the victim, according to police. The victim was not a VCU student, according to police.
The second incident took place moments later at the intersection of West Franklin and Shafer Streets.
The victim, a VCU student, told police he encountered the group at the intersection. There, one of the group's members made a comment about the boots the victim was wearing, police said.
After the group passed, the victim reported that he heard footstep behind him and was then punched in the back of the head and knocked to the ground.
Once on the ground, the victim was told by a crowd member, "give me everything you've got," police said.
The victim was then punched again in the neck and a pack of cigarettes was removed from his pants pocket, according to police.
The group of assailants were last seen heading south through Shafer Court. They are described as a group of approximately 15 people.
