RICHMOND, VA—A pedestrian was killed during a hit-and-run Tuesday night, and now police are searching for the driver.
Jeffrey Shawn Smith, 33, of Richmond, was found lying in the westbound lane of Walmsley Boulevard around 8:42 p.m., according to police. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said an initial investigate indicates Smith was struck and killed by an unknown vehicle that then fled the scene. The vehicle may be a small, dark-blue car, possibly a Volkswagen, with damage to its windshield and passenger side front bumper, police said.
Police ask that anyone with information to call the Richmond Police Crash Team investigators at 646-1343 or Crime Stoppers at 780-1000. Information may be texted to Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word "ITip" followed by your tip. Both Crime Stoppers methods are anonymous.
