RICHMOND, VA—The driver of a dump truck that overturned and snarled traffic on Interstate 95 near Route 10 early Wednesday morning has been charged.
The two left lanes of Interstate 95 southbound remain closed, and major delays are expected after a dump truck overturned at about 7:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Police said the driver of the dump truck rear ended a pickup truck. After hitting the pickup, the dump truck overturned onto the driver's side, dumping gravel on the highway.
The driver of the dump truck. Alan C. Hankins, 28, of Chesterfield, was charged with following too close.
State Police officials said both drivers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The two left lanes of Interstate 95 southbound remain closed as crews work to upright the dump truck and to clean-up the spilled gravel. The right lane remains open.
