Saint Paul's College in Lawrenceville is officially re-accredited.
A federal judge in Atlanta issued the order Wednesday.
The historic school issued the following statement Wednesday:
"I know I speak for the Board as well as our vast alumni network in saying that we are pleased that our accreditation has been preserved and that Saint Paul's can continue to serve an important role in Southside Virginia's economic revitalization," said Dr. Oliver Spencer.
Ashley L. Taylor, Jr., counsel for Saint Paul's and a partner with Troutman Sanders LLP stated that, "Our pleadings in this case explain how SACS failed to consider certain critical information. With the injunction in place, Saint Paul's is now able to take the steps necessary for the completion of this important process."
Many stakeholders, including Saint Paul's Board of Trustees, students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the extended Saint Paul's family, have been instrumental in supporting the efforts to ensure that Saint Paul's continues to fulfill its historical mission. Senator Mark Warner and Congressman Bobby Scott also agree with the need to protect current Saint Paul's students from any harm in this process.
