Chesterfield, VA—Two separate residence fires on Thursday left 7 people displaced and two homes significantly damaged.

When crews arrived on the scene at 2:56, they encountered a mobile home engulfed in flames, with heavy smoke and fire throughout the interior of the home.
One person who was inside the home at the time of the fire escaped. It appears that several pets did not survive the blaze.

The second fire was at a home in the 2600 block of Sailboat Court, around 3:00 PM.
The house sustained heavy fire damage in its kitchen, and some smoke damage throughout the rest of the home. Crews say the fire appears to be cooking-related, but the exact cause of the blaze has not been determined.
The five people who live in the home were not there at the time of the fire, but they have been displaced. The Red Cross is also assisting these people.
