Fredericksburg, VA—After two young girls were treated for burns on their hands, a teenage male has been arrested and charged with felony child abuse and neglect.
At the request of the Department of Social Services, at 5:40 PM police responded to a report of possible child abuse on August 30, at a home in the 100 block of Greystone Court in Fredericksburg.
Two female children—one four year old, the other two years old—were transported to a local hospital for burns to their hands. The older girl was treated and released, but the younger child was transferred to the VCU Burn Unit.
The initial investigation of the situation revealed that the children were burned with hot water while in the care of their mother's boyfriend, 19-year-old Demarco Singleton of Fredericksburg.
Singleton was arrested and charged with two counts of felony child abuse/neglect. He is currently incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
