RICHMOND, VA- Two blocks in downtown Richmond were temporarily evacuated due to a gas leak Wednesday afternoon.
It happened at 22 South Addison Street and West Cary Street. Two buildings, including one restaurant, were evacuated, police said.
Twelve people were forced to evacuate, as crews worked to cap the leak, police said.
The leak formed when contractors struck a 1 1/8 inch plastic pipe.
Richmond Fire officials and the Department of Public Utilities are at the scene.
