RICHMOND, VA—Police have identified the man shot and killed in a Richmond shooting late Sunday night

James Earl Porter, 39, of Richmond, lying in the 2300 block of Gordon Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police said Porter was unresponsive and suffering an apparent gunshot wound.

Porter was taken to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He was later pronounced dead, police said.

Police have not released a description of the suspect and said they are working to establish a motive. The incident is being investigated as a homicide. No arrest have been made.
