DANVILLE, Va. (AP) - Three people have been sentenced for participating in a fraud ring that re-encoded gift cards with stolen credit card numbers.
Sekou Fofana, Mory Keita and Ibraham Konte. Fofana, Keita and Konte pleaded guilty earlier this year to conspiracy, aggravated identity theft and access device fraud.
The Danville Register and Bee (http://bit.ly/P6jtcn ) says a federal judge sentenced Fofana on Monday to four years in prison. Keita received a two-and-a-half-year sentence. Korte was sentenced to three years and eight months. All three defendants received credit for time already served.
Fofana, Keita and Konte are among nine people charged in the case. Five co-defendants were sentenced earlier. Another is awaiting sentencing.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashley Neese Prosecutors says the fraud ring cost banks more than $120,000.
