HENRICO, Va- Two juveniles have been arrested and charged with arson, breaking and entering, larceny and vandalism in connection with the fire and vandalism of Biltmore Baptist Church this afternoon. Henrico Fire Marshals have taken the two juveniles into custody and more charges are pending. Items that were stolen from the church have been recovered. No estimate of the damages is available at this time.
HENRICO, Va- Henrico County Division of Fire responded to a report of a fire in the basement of Biltmore Baptist Church around 2:30 pm. A member of the church came by to get ice and discovered smoke inside the church and the fire alarm going off. The church member quickly called 911. When fire crews arrived they saw no evidence of fire from the exterior of the church. Fire crews entered the church to investigate and encountered moderate smoke conditions in the basement. A request for more units was made and a working fire was declared. Crews located several small fires throughout the church. Fire crews also noted the church had been vandalized with paint, broken furniture and broken fixtures. More fires were located in the sanctuary as well as vandalism. Henrico Fire Command requested the response of the Fire Marshal due to the vandalism and multiple fires. The Henrico Fire Marshal has confirmed the fire is Arson. The Fire investigators are currently on scene collecting evidence and conducting interviews.
