CHESTERFIELD, VA— The man police say went to a Chesterfield law firm and began shooting at an attorney in the parking lot is set to appear in court Thursday.
Mark M. Lowe, 41, of the 200 block of Philray Rd., was charged with attempted murder, abduction, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
Police said Lowe went to the Barnes & Diehl law firm with a riffle and then shot at an attorney in the parking lot Thursday, June 21.
No one was shot during the incident, but police said the lawyer and a bystander sustained minor injuries while trying to flee the scene.
The incident stemmed from a child custody hearing in a Richmond court earlier that morning, according to officials. Police said Lowe went the law firm and shot at the opposing attorney.
An off duty Capitol Police officer was in the business office, located at 9401 Courthouse Rd., when the shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m.
A Chesterfield County police lieutenant, dressed in plainclothes, was coincidentally also present at the scene.
Lowe refused to let go of the gun, but the officers were able to pry the gun from his hand and arrest Lowe.
Lowe is being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond.
