Northumberland County, VA—Police have arrested a man in connection with the shooting death of a 25-year-old victim on Wednesday.
Police responded to reports of a person shot in the vicinity of Fruit Plain Road at 1:53 PM. Officers found 25-year-old Kevin Lamont Turner of Callao dead of multiple gunshot wounds outside of a residence in that area.
Witnesses saw the suspected shooter, 42-year-old Bernard Lajon Jenkins of Lottsburg, leaving the scene in an emerald green 1998 Plymouth Breeze.
The search for Jenkins continued throughout the night, and was assisted by Richmond County Sheriff's Office and Virginia State Police.
After negotiations between Jenkins, Northumberland County Sheriff's Office, and Commonwealth Attorney Jane Wrightson, Jenkins surrendered to Northumberland County Sheriff's Office at 9:45 AM on Thursday morning.
