HENRICO, VA—Teenage drivers in Henrico County are getting a strong message Wednesday about the importance of being safe behind the wheel.
The new IDRIVE program is aimed at teaching teen drivers the importance of practicing safe driving.
The day-long event features interactive demonstrations for the young drivers, including a mock trial conducted by local judges, drunk driving simulations and mock crash scenes with fire, police and rescue teams.
Some 600 teen drivers from Henrico County will take part in the event that's being held at the Richmond International Raceway.
The event is hosted by AAA Mid-Atlantic and is funded in part by a grant from the Virginia Highway Safety Office.
