RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A plea agreement hearing is set for a man charged with a slaying at a Richmond veterans hospital.
Cornelius Hayes of Blackstone will enter his plea in U.S. District Court on Tuesday. The 55-year-old Hayes had been set for trial in November, but the plea hearing was placed on Judge Henry Hudson's docket Thursday. Details of the plea agreement have not been posted.
Hayes previously pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, attempted murder and three firearms counts.
An indictment charges that Hayes fatally shot James Lee in the parking lot of the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center on Feb. 22. He's also accused of attempting to kill another person on hospital grounds. Copyright 2012 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
