DOSWELL, Va. (AP) - The State Fair of Virginia opens this week under new owners.
The Farm Bureau Federation and Universal Fairs are teaming up to present the annual agricultural attraction, which runs from Sept. 28 through Oct. 7. They're sponsoring a media preview Monday and Tuesday at The Meadow Event Park in Caroline County to highlight some of the fair's new features.
The Farm Bureau has touted the fair's return to its agricultural roots, with an emphasis on livestock exhibits and competitions.
Universal purchased the Caroline County property in May for $5.67 million from the debt-ridden former operator of the 150-year-old fair. The Farm Bureau later decided to partner with the entertainment company.
