CAROLINE COUNTY, VA—State Police are searching for two people they say abducted and carjacked a man while fleeing the scene of a car crash in Caroline County on Saturday.
Police said the driver of a 2006 Pontiac G6 ran a stop sign at the intersection of Route 1 and Marye Road and was struck by a 1998 Dodge Durango.
Officers witnessed the driver of the Pontiac, Cheryl Ruedi, 22, and a passenger, Trent Brooks, 20, both of Spotsylvania, leaving the scene of the wreck and getting into a truck located near the crash scene.
Approximately 45 minutes later, troopers at the crash scene were approached by an adult male who reported he had been abducted by Ruedi and Brooks.
The man reported he was forced into his pickup truck by Brooks and was told to drive him and Ruedi away from the scene. At the time of the abduction, Brooks told the pickup truck driver that he had a gun, police said.
Police say the victim drove the suspects west on Marye Road for about half a mile when Brooks ordered the man to stop the vehicle.
Brooks and Reudi then ran from the pickup truck and fled into the woods on foot, police said.
Cheryl Ruedi, 22, of the 4000 block of Twilight Lane in Spotsylvania, faces several charges including felony hit and run, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, driving on a suspended license, reckless driving and failure to obey a highway sign.
Ruedi is also wanted by the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office for grand larceny of a stolen vehicle.
Ruedi is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 125 pounds with green eyes and brown hair.
Trent Brooks, 20, of the 4000 block of Twilight Lane in Spotsylvania, faces several charges including abduction, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, carjacking, hit and run, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm with an active protective order, brandishing a firearm and assault.
Brooks is also wanted by the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office for assault on a family member.
Brooks is described as a black male, approximately 5 feet seven inches tall, weighing approximately 160 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
