Girl Scouts Mark 100th Anniversary With State Fair Campout

Posted: Updated:

DOSWELL, Va. (AP) - Ten Virginia Girl Scout troops are marking the organization's 100th anniversary with a campout at the State Fair of Virginia.

Fair officials say the scouts are teaching fairgoers outdoors skills such as campfire cooking. They also will promote the Girl Scouts.

The scouts were invited to participate in the fair by Virginia State Parks.

Christen Miller with Virginia State Parks says the Girl Scouts and the parks have worked together for a century.

The fair began Sept. 28 and runs through Oct. 7 at The Meadow Event Park in Caroline County.
