VSU Apartments Evacuated After Storage Room Fire

Chesterfield, VA—A fire in the storage room of University Apartments At Ettrick, used as dormitories by Virginia State University, forced an evacuation on Tuesday afternoon.

The fire occurred at the University Apartments at Ettrick, located about half a mile from campus, near the intersection of Woodpecker and Hickory Roads.

The blaze began in one of the apartments which was being used for storage.,The building's sprinkler system was activated by the blaze, and helped to contain the fire to one unit.

Fire crews are responding to the scene, and the Fire Marshall is working to determine the cause.

There were no injuries. It's unclear if any students have been displaced.
