Culpeper,
VA—A Culpeper man has been arrested and charged, after police found nearly $200,000
worth of marijuana plants growing in his home's garage.
At
9:00 PM on October 1, police knocked on the door of a home, located in the
20000 block of Williams Drive.
The door was answered by 34-year-old Peter I. Gates, who then slammed the door
shut.
Officers
entered the home, and after executing a search warrant, seized approximately 60
marijuana plants which were growing in the garage.
Police
also seized several ounces of packaged marijuana that had an estimated
street value of $2,000. Additionally, officers recovered two handguns, an assault rifle,
and more than $3,000 in cash from the scene.
Gates
is charged with possession with intent to distribute more than five
pounds of marijuana. He is also charged with possession of a firearm while in
possession of more than one pound of marijuana.
