Several weeks after the start of school, parents in Henrico County are still complaining about buses picking up and dropping off students late.
In some cases, parents told 8News the buses are more than 40 minutes late, and in some cases, not showing up at all.
"They've been late getting to school," said parent Page Booth. "My daughter's bus has been no-shows probably two to three times a week."
School officials said a change to the elementary school start time prompted the issues, primarily affecting routes in the Tuckahoe area. The issues prompted school officials to sit down with parents Wednesday night to find a solution.
"We have been looking at wholesale fixes and have been making improvements, but we wanted to get down and deal with any individual problems that remained," said Henrico Schools Deputy Superintendent Dr. Partick Kinlaw.
"We think that eventually we will get there, but it's still new, in some cases, family and bus drivers are making adjustments," Kinlaw said.
Kinlaw told 8News they will discuss the issues brought to them by parents and could start implementing route changes as early as next week.
