Prince George Teen's Death Ruled Accidental Drowning

Posted: Updated:

PRINCE GEORGE, VA—The death of a Prince George High School student who was killed when his car went into a body of water as he tried to pull over for a passing police car was ruled an accidental drowning.

Marvin Massenburg Jr., 17, drove his car off of the side of the road and into a body of water as he attempted to let the Prince George police car pass.

The State Medical Examiner's Office on Thursday said Massenburg died during an accidental drowning.

The wreck happened on Courthouse Road near Bull Hill Road in Prince George County.

State Police officials said the officer was behind Massenburg's vehicle when it ran off the road. The officer stopped and attempted to rescue Massenburg.

Massenburg could not be revived, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Prince George officer had been responding to what turned out to be a false alarm, state police officials said.
