Richmond Police are looking for suspects after a man was shot dead outside of a party in Jackson Ward early Sunday morning.

Nathan Ratigan, 24, was shot and killed in a confrontation with a group of men he was attempting to keep from entering his friend's birthday party, police said.

"We have information that it was several black males that had a confrontation with a white male.," said Richmond Police spokesperson Gene Lepley.

Ratigan's friends said he was respectfully telling the armed suspect and the men he was with that they were not allowed to enter the part, taking place near the corned of Marshall and Madison Streets.

Police said the four suspects, all in their 20s, were last seen running toward the intersection of Broad and Belvidere Streets.
