This Sunday morning, the Dinwiddie County Emergency Communications Center dispatched County fire units to a reported trailer fire in the 20000 block of Boydton Plank Road. The first fire unit arrived at 3:56am reporting a single wide trailer heavily involved in fire.
Units also discovered the single occupant of the residence, outside the trailer, suffering from burns and severe smoke inhalation. The subject was transported to Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg. It appears the injuries were suffered when the occupant, who had initially escaped the fire, attempted to reenter the residence. There is no update on the patient's condition at this time.
The home is a total loss and one additional trailer suffered minor heat damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Dinwiddie County Division of Fire & EMS.
