HENRICO, VA— Two people were injured fleeing after a shot rang out inside Regency Square mall in Henrico County on Monday afternoon.
Customers fled and stores locked their doors after a single shot rang out in a bathroom near the food court inside the mall on North Parham Road.
Police said two people suffered minor injuries in the moments after the shot was fired. A 20-year-old man suffered what appeared to be a ricochet wound in a leg. A 74-year-old woman fell as she was fleeing and injured an ankle.
Multiple police crews responded to the scene within minutes, but the alleged gunman had fled the scene.
Police officials said they were looking for a black male, about six feet two inches tall, with dreadlocks and a red hooded sweatshirt, who was seen fleeing the area.
Investigators also are looking for a second man who is believed to have argued with the gunman before the shot was fired.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
