Amelia County Schools is notifying parents after a confirmed case of viral meningitis at the county's elementary school.
The Piedmont Health District said in the letter to parents that there is no public health risk, but that they are following the situation closely.
In the letter to parents, health officials said most viral meningitis cases are isolated.
Health officials did not comment on the condition of the ill student.
Parents with concerns can call the Amelia County Public Schools Division Nurse at 804-561-2433.
