Football Coach Charged After Kicking 12-Year-Old Player

football coach has been charged, after allegedly kicking a 12-year-old boy
21-year-old Joseph Bernard Hart works as a volunteer
football coach at Ni River Middle School. On October 16, officers say Hart
kicked the 12-year-old boy during football practice, causing the child to fall
to the ground.
When the boy's father arrived to pick him up from practice,
he learned of the kicking and confronted Hart. The father, 43-year-old Maurice
Smith of Spotsylvania, then hit Hart. Smith
has been charged with assault and battery.
Hart has not been arrested, but faces felony cruelty and
injuries to children charges.
