Chesterfield,
VA—A man was arrested Tuesday for
cruelty to animals, after an earlier report of animal neglect.
Chesterfield County Animal Control Units responded to a
residence in the 9400 block of Lost
Forest Drive to investigate the treatment and
welfare of a dog.
When officers arrived, they found that the dog had died
earlier the same day. The dog's remains were taken to a veterinarian, where a
formal necropsy was performed.
A warrant was obtained for the arrest of the owner, Carroll
Edward Dyke, Sr., after authorities reviewed the necropsy results and consulted
with Chesterfield Commonwealth Attorney's Office.
Dyke has been charged with cruelty to animals, a class 1 misdemeanor.
He will appear in court on December 19 at 1 PM at Chesterfield County General
District Court.
