STAFFORD, VA—The northbound lanes of I-95 have reopened in Stafford County after a tractor-trailer accident late Tuesday night.

The wreck happened on I-95 northbound near mile marker 138 in Stafford County just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police said a driver swerved to avoid a deer and struck a tractor-trailer.

Police said the tractor-trailer jackknifed across the northbound lanes and spilled 150 gallons of diesel fuel. A hazardous materials team was called in to clean up the highway.

Ahmed Mohammed, 24, of Falls Church, was cited for reckless driving. Mohammed and two passengers, a 23-year-old female and 20-year-old male, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

At least two vehicles were involved in the wreck, and two people were taken to nearby hospitals, officials said.

Northbound I-95 traffic was being detoured off the interstate in Stafford County at the 136 mile marker and brought back on at the Courthouse Road exit.
