DINWIDDIE, VA—Two people have been arrested after a man was critically wounded after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
Dinwiddie County Sheriff's officers responded Friday night to reports of a person shot at the Food Barn convenience store located in the 14000 block of Boydton Plank Road.
When officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old man suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
Officers also discovered that the victim's vehicle, a 1990 Lincoln, had been taken by the suspect.
The victim was taken to Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg and then transferred to VCU Medical Center in Richmond. He is in critical condition, police said. His name has not been released.
Carlos J. Underwood, 32, of the 12000 block of Baltimore Road, Ford, Virginia, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding, carjacking, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and giving false information to law enforcement.
Rebecca Ann Cairnes, 32, of the 12000 block of Baltimore Road, Ford, Virginia, was arrested and charged with one count of being an accessory after the fact to a felony.
Underwood is being held with out bond at Meherrin River Regional Jail in Alberta.
Underwood and Cairnes have arraignment hearings in Dinwiddie County General District Court for arraignment set for Monday October 29.
