RICHMOND, VA. (AP) - Virginia election officials are asking the attorney general's office to investigate the son of Democratic Rep. Jim Moran discussing a plan to cast fraudulent ballots, and the person who made the recording of the incident.
The decision was made Friday at a special meeting of the State Board of Elections. The board said in a news release it has asked the attorney general to investigate voting irregularities and fraudulent activity involving Patrick Moran. He is already the focus of a criminal investigation in Arlington.
Moran resigned Wednesday as field director of his father's campaign after Project Veritas released the video. The organization is led by conservative activist James O'Keefe.
The elections board said it is also seeking an investigation into the person who made the recording.
