HOEPWELL, VA—Hopewell Police arrested nine people Thursday in connection with a gang-related shooting Halloween night that left a teenage boy seriously injured.

The shooting happened Wednesday night in the 3600 block of Wilmington Avenue. Police said a fight between two groups, including the victim, escalated and ended with shots fired.
As officers investigated, a 16-year-old arrived at John Randolph Medical Center suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was taken to VCU Medical Center where he is in stable but serious condition.
Police said preliminary information indicated the victim may know the shooter, and this incident may be the result of an ongoing dispute between several subjects.
There were multiple witnesses to the incident, and investigators are asking those witnesses to come forward and assist police in their investigation.
The adult offenders are being held at Riverside Regional Jail. The juveniles are held at the Crater Detention Center.
